Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of experience and proficiency in complex congenital heart defects for a children's hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Pediatric cardiology/echo setting within a children's hospital
  • Daily caseload of 4–10 studies per tech
  • Will float between two locations: the main children's hospital and a North Charleston clinic
  • Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts with staggered start times ranging from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM
  • No weekend or on-call requirements
  • No holiday coverage required
  • Uses GE Vivid 95 ultrasound system and PACS for full report entry
  • EMR: Epic
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • All requested time off must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
  • Completion of online modules is required prior to the start of the assignment
  • All staff and contractors are assigned to emergency response teams and may be expected to respond during declared emergencies, including hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer
  • ARDMS registration with Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) certification, OR CCI registration with RCCS certification — all certifications must be in hand at time of start
  • AHA BLS required
  • Proficiency in scanning pediatric echocardiograms and extensive knowledge of complex congenital heart disease and defects
  • Experience with GE Vivid 95 and PACS systems preferred
  • SC license required if applicable — candidates with a pending license may be considered, but must be active/issued before starting
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
