Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Transitional Care/Skilled Nursing Unit position requiring at least 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and a valid WV or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based skilled nursing facility (SNF/LTC) on the Transitional Care Unit (UTCC/TCU), 5th floor
• 32-bed unit specializing in geriatric and post-acute restorative care
• Patient population includes post-op orthopedic patients (hips, knees, shoulders) and medical diagnoses such as pneumonia and CHF requiring additional rehabilitation before discharge
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:9–12; nurse aide ratio of 1:12
• A charge nurse handles all admissions and physician orders
• IV Team is available, though nurses are expected to attempt IV placement first
• Respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and IV team support available 24/7
• Telemetry and ventilator management are not required on this unit
• Charting is performed using Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM start)
• Weekends rotate every other weekend
• Holidays are on a rotating schedule
• No floating required
• 13-week contract, 36 hours per week
• Focus of care is on restorative and rehabilitative nursing, helping patients regain functional ability and health skills following hospitalization or acute illness
• Unit orientation consists of 1–2 shifts
• Royal blue scrubs required; false nails are not permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• Two supervisor/peer references are required for consideration, including one supervisor reference if the candidate held a permanent position within the last 12 months

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
• BSN is not required
