Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Intermediate Care position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active IL RN licensure.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) with general onsite telemetry; average daily census of 38 patients
- Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1845–0715)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating to like units required as needed to meet facility needs
- Charting in Cerner (experience required)
- Block scheduling requests may be discussed with the manager
Requirements
- Active IL RN license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required work setting experience: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown
- Cardiac monitoring skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, onsite and remote telemetry monitoring
- Cardiovascular case experience required: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band
- IV therapy skills required: accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management with and without titration, PCA
- Respiratory experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, non-invasive airway management
- Additional required clinical skills: GI feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, CVA care, surgical drains, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred

- 13-week contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted — no radius restriction
- Requested time off ideally limited to no more than 5 days for the duration of the assignment; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Any solid color scrubs accepted
- Free parking available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
