Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Plymouth, MA, requiring active MA licensure and both L&D and postpartum experience for a 13-week night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 12-bed, private room labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) unit that includes a nursery staffed by obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, pediatricians, neonatologists, and RNs
  • Unit also includes a 2-bed triage area and a 6-bed dedicated postpartum area
  • 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
  • 13-week contract
  • RNs are expected to demonstrate competency in labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, including advanced fetal monitoring, breastfeeding education, neonatal resuscitation, and OR scrub and circulating roles
  • A pass/fail ECG/Telemetry test (20 questions, Dysrhythmia) and Medication test (20 questions) are administered via Zoom prior to the assignment start — passing score is 85% with no opportunity for remediation or re-sitting, so thorough preparation is strongly encouraged
  • Tests must be completed within 48 hours of assignment confirmation
  • A study guide with tips and answers is provided to help candidates prepare for testing
  • Orientation is held biweekly
  • A nurse manager interview is required — candidates should be prepared to provide available dates and times
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration
  • Candidates who have previously worked for Beth Israel Lahey Health (as travel, permanent, or per diem) must have a minimum 6-month break before being eligible for this position

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts (MA) RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (intermediate or advanced)
  • Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience required
  • Mother/Baby (postpartum) experience required
  • Evidence of recent Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) continuing education, or completion within 3 months of hire
  • OR circulating and scrub experience preferred
  • Experience in a continuing care/special care nursery or NICU environment preferred
  • COVID vaccine with booster and flu vaccine required (medical exemptions permitted)
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
