Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical unit position in Alabama, with a 1:6 patient ratio and float and charge nurse responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Hospital Medical-Surgical unit setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Floating to other units required
• Charge nurse duties required on an as-needed basis
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Epic EMR experience preferred (if applicable — not specified, omit)
• Skills required include IV starts, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are eligible and will be considered at a local pay rate
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of contract confirmation — no RTO will be approved after the contract is finalized
• Schedules cannot be adjusted once the contract is confirmed
• Accommodation around other per diem schedules or contracts is not available
• A 30-minute lunch break is mandatory and cannot be skipped

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Current fit test required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Proficiency with IV starts, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac
