Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience, active GA or compact RN license, and telemetry monitoring skills including titrating cardiac drips.

Responsibilities

• Neuro/Stroke PCU floor with a mixed patient population including respiratory, cardiac, and general medical cases
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on a 36-bed unit with an average daily census of 30
• Continuous telemetry monitoring required; experience titrating cardiac drips is required
• Uses Epic (EMR), Pyxis (medication dispensing), and SBAR communication framework
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• No block scheduling
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days; no RTO may be requested during the first week of the assignment
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work those holidays and no holiday RTO can be requested; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as 1)
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
• No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the posted shift is firm
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time; delays result in a two-week pushback due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
