Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a willingness to float across a regional hospital network.

Details

• 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700) in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• 457-licensed-bed Level 3 Trauma facility that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
• Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric cases
• Average unit census of 51 patients
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); may increase to 1:7–8 during surge periods; CNA ratio is 1:7
• EMR: Epic
• Equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler
• Every-other-weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required across all facilities in Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division campuses) within scope of practice
• 6-week scheduling cycles

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the past year
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the home unit
• One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-monitored nursing care to a diverse medical patient population including CHF, COPD, wound care, and addiction services requiring IV antibiotics
• Supported by a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, a Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
• Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; contracted hours must still be met
• When floating mid-shift between facilities, travel time is compensated
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working in a permanent position to be eligible
