Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across a regional hospital network.

Details

• 457-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
• Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 51 patients
• Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, COPD, DM, mental health, addiction services (IV antibiotics), wound care, and geriatric care
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent), with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8; CNA ratio is 1:7
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating is required across Region 1 facilities — including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division locations — within scope of practice
• EMR: Epic
• Unit equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes and drains, IV insertion, blood product administration, and wound care
• Candidate's permanent address must be located 50+ miles from the home unit
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate must be willing to float to any facility within Region 1 — declining float requirements will result in disqualification
• Travel time between facilities during a mid-shift float is compensated
• Orientation includes NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
• Schedules are issued on a 6-week cycle
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
