Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Alaska, requiring an AK RN license and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.
Responsibilities
- Acute Care, Magnet-designated hospital setting
- Labor & Delivery unit with floating required across all L&D areas including LDR and Postpartum (PPU)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, Saturday and Sunday)
- Self-scheduling/block schedule available
- No on-call requirements
- Charting performed in Cerner
- Patient population is complex, often involving significant social history including domestic violence; cultural sensitivity to the Alaska Native population is essential
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrubs of any color or pattern are acceptable; L&D/OR scrubs are provided by the facility
- Parking is available at no cost to travelers
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- No RTO restrictions
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required; compact license accepted with proof of full AK license application submitted, as AK BON processing takes 10–12 weeks
- Current certifications required: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
