Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab Tech with experience in advanced cardiac interventional procedures, including TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip, for a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care teaching hospital.
Responsibilities
- Works in a 6-room cardiac cath lab at an acute care teaching hospital with ACC accreditation for PCI procedures
- Adult patient population with a daily census of 15–20 patients
- Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and ASD/PFO closures
- Advanced procedures include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, CardioMEMS, thrombectomy, mitral clips, renal denervation, and research protocols
- Equipment includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
- Epic charting experience required
- 4x10 hour day shifts, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Each clinician is expected to take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts per 6-week period; one full weekend of call (Fri–Sun) must be scheduled together, with remaining weekday call shifts (Mon–Thurs) taken individually throughout the cycle
- One Saturday shift for elective cases is required each 6-week period
- Clinicians must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when on call
- Must be available to work or take call one holiday per 13-week contract, in rotation with staff
- Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated facility with adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
- Nationally recognized for cardiac cath lab excellence with a multidisciplinary team supporting complex cardiovascular cases
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- ARRT(R) or CCI RCIS required; Virginia state license preferred — any active state license (in hand or pending) is accepted, as Virginia will grant emergency authorization to travelers while a permanent VA license is processing; license required if applicable
- Minimum experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
- Proficiency in LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip procedures
- Skills in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
