Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Progressive Care position requiring a KS or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details

• This is a float pool position — candidates will not be assigned a home unit and will float between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments across multiple metro campuses as needed
• Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, sepsis, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, wound care, ETOH withdrawal, SI, and COVID cases
• Specialized procedures and skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and pre/post cardiac cath care
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Equipment and technology used includes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• Holiday shift coverage required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available for this position

Requirements

• Active KS RN license (or compact equivalent) and MO RN license, both must be in hand at time of consideration; unwillingness to float across state lines may result in cancellation
• Current certifications required: BLS and NIHSS
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Experience in Med/Surg Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings required
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Orientation modules averaging 10–15 hours are required as part of compliance and must be completed prior to the start date
• No more than 7 days of RTO will be approved
