Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care Magnet hospital in Alaska, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and AWHONN Intermediate certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a 152-bed acute care Magnet hospital in Alaska
- Patient population is complex, with significant social history including domestic violence, serving the Alaska Native community
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Float within scope across all L&D areas including LDR and Postpartum Unit (PPU)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, Saturday and Sunday)
- No on-call required
- Self-scheduling/block scheduling available
- Charting via Cerner
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrubs may be any color or pattern; L&D scrubs are provided by the facility
- Parking is provided at no cost
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- No RTO restrictions
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required; compact license accepted with proof of full AK license application submitted (AK BON processing takes 10–12 weeks)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
- Required certifications: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS, and NRP
- Cultural sensitivity to the Alaska Native population is required
