Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Med/Surg Telemetry position at a major academic teaching hospital in West Virginia, requiring at least 2 years of experience and active telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• 38-bed Cardiovascular Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital (COTH member)
• Medical patient population with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease
• Patient ratio of 1:7 using a team nursing approach (1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 Nursing Assistant per team)
• Nights shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, available as 3x12 or 4x12 schedule
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units may be required to meet facility needs
• Charting via Cerner (SBAR) and Accudose medication dispensing system
• Free parking available for travelers
• Provide cardiovascular-focused nursing care using a collaborative team approach, serving as a patient advocate alongside LPNs and nursing assistants
• Unit emphasizes education, certification, and professional development opportunities for staff
• Orientation is held every other week on Thursdays
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify; candidates within 75–99 miles may be submitted for facility approval on a case-by-case basis
• Former permanent employees of this health system are not eligible to return as travelers until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
• RTO requests are accepted and should be included on the application and discussed with the manager during the interview; holiday RTO is limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Blocked schedule requests will be considered and should be discussed during the interview
• COVID vaccine is not required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if experience requirements are met
• Royal Blue or White scrubs required for RNs

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending RN license may be considered
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and dysrhythmia management required
• Two manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Valid Driver's License and Social Security card required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical exemption documentation from a physician or allergist accepted
