Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical Oncology position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience and active IL RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting with 562 staffed beds, designated as a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet facility
• Medical/Surgical Oncology unit with an average daily census of 24 patients across 24 beds
• Schedule is 4x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required as needed to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Free parking available with a permit obtained during orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No ONC certification required — MS RNs with oncology experience will be considered
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Any solid scrub color is acceptable
• Requested time off should ideally not exceed 5 days for the duration of the assignment
• Schedule change requests should be discussed directly with the manager
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration

Requirements

• Active IL RN license currently in hand or actively in the application process
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Chemotherapy administration experience required, including: IV push, continuous infusion, oral administration, body fluid handling post-chemo, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and monitoring chemotherapy
• IV therapy/infusion skills required: accessing and managing ports, PICC line care, central line blood draws and care, starting IVs, and administration of blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
• Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• BLS certification required (current)
• Chemo certification preferred; OCN and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred but not required
