Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Neuro position at an academic medical center in Ohio, requiring 2 years of PCU experience with neuro patient experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at an academic teaching hospital in Ohio
- Neurological and neurosurgical patient population, including CVA, intracranial bleeds, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, pre/post-neurosurgery, and post-TPA care
- Estimated patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shifts, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
- Floating to other units within the health system is required as needed
- Epic EMR — experience required
- Skills include cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, HFNC, heparin protocols, titrating cardiac drips, and wound care
Requirements
- Valid OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 2 years of PCU-level experience required
- PCU experience with neurological patients is a hard stop requirement
- Certifications required: BLS, NIHSS
- ACLS preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (supervisor or charge RN acceptable); coworker references are not accepted
Additional Information

- Teaching hospital experience preferred; previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Candidates must be aware of and prepared to complete the Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing a contract — this is time-sensitive and delays may affect the assignment start
- All time off requests must be submitted at the time of application and built into the contract
- Local candidates are accepted
- Former employees of this health system are eligible after a 6-month separation from the facility
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible to be hired as a traveler
- 13-week assignment
