Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Illinois, requiring at least 2 years of recent ICU experience and an active IL RN license.
Responsibilities
- ICU position within a Level 1 Trauma Center hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
- This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, potentially to units outside their primary area of competency and to other Cook County facilities within a 50-mile radius
- Charting is done in Cerner
- No on-call requirements
- Local candidates are accepted and preferred; candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility
- Floating may occur across Cook County facilities; clinicians may receive float notification as little as 2 hours before their shift
- When floated outside primary area of competency, a team-based care model is utilized
- RTO is capped at 5 days for the contract duration, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
- No RTO will be approved on weekends
- No RTO on holidays or the day before or after a holiday
- Navy blue scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility
- Paid parking is available in an adjacent garage at $5 per entry, approximately a 2–3 minute walk from the hospital entrance
- No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required — pending licensure is not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience required
- COVID vaccination proof required — no exceptions
