Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an ICU position in Athens, TN, requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience and active ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications.

Responsibilities

• Night shift position, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• ICU unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Trauma Level 3 facility
• Adult and geriatric patient population; no pediatric patients
• Common diagnoses include DKA, CVA, chest pain, post-surgical recovery, electrolyte imbalances, overdose, and psychiatric presentations (SI)
• Patient ratio of 2–3:1
• Currently a 5-bed ICU with expansion to a 10-bed unit planned
• Equipment includes ventilators, BiPAPs, drips, and glucometers
• EMR: Medhost
• Every other weekend required
• No float requirements
• No on-call requirements
• All clinical staff on assignment in Tennessee must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to start, with results required before the assignment begins
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during this assignment
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; casual wear is not permitted
• Orientation is held bi-weekly on Mondays

Requirements

• Active RN license — TN state or compact license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — all must be obtained prior to start; RQI certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of ICU/critical care nursing experience
• Critical thinking skills required
• Social Security number required for consideration
• Date of birth required for consideration
• Must reside 60 or more miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
