Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry - Stroke Night Shift position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active AL or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• 42-bed Heart Failure and Stroke unit dedicated to patients with neurological and cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure and acute stroke
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• Uses Meditech EMR (experience not required)
• 13-week contract
• Works alongside cardiologists and neurologists managing complex neuro-cardiac conditions
• Scrub color requirement: solid navy
• A Cardiac Exam will be required upon offer acceptance
• No pre-start HealthStream modules required — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
• Holiday coverage required for all assigned holidays
• Local candidates are welcome to apply with no radius restrictions
• Timekeeping system: Centricity

Requirements

• Active AL or Compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on license allowed
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered
• At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Stroke specialty required
• Associate's degree in nursing required
• NURSYS verification required
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
