Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a 36-bed Pulmonary unit in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring a valid AL or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• 36-bed inpatient Pulmonary/Telemetry unit (6 South) within a hospital setting
• Patients present with a wide range of respiratory disorders and lung diseases or injuries
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• EMR: Meditech (experience preferred but not required)
• 13-week contract
• Collaborative, multidisciplinary care environment working alongside respiratory therapy, physical therapy, care management, and pharmacy
• A strong foundation in general medicine and respiratory nursing skills is essential for success in this role
• Virtual orientation provided; no pre-start HealthStream modules required — competency-based modules are completed during orientation
• A Cardiac Exam will be sent to candidates upon offer acceptance
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
• Timekeeping system: Centricity

Requirements

• Active AL state or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
• Current AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered
• At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Pulmonary specialty required
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
• NURSYS verification required
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
