Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency, working night shifts in a high-volume hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit with 16 beds and an average daily census of 15, plus a 6-bed L&D Triage area
• Patient population includes neonates/infants and adults
• Clinical scope includes vaginal deliveries, C-sections, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), and D&C procedures
• Patient ratio of 1:1–2
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• 3 weekend shifts required per contract
• On-call required: 2 call shifts per 6 weeks for AM and PM shifts
• Floating within the facility and within scope of practice as needed
• RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment
• RTO blackout: Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked at any facility within this health system must have been away for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
• No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
• Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work 2, and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for review
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as 1)
• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit

Requirements

• Active RN license — GA RN or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• Preferred certification: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are strongly preferred
