Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Renal Med/Surg unit position requiring Epic experience and a minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Renal Medical/Surgical unit in a hospital setting
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 49-bed unit with an average daily census of 48
- Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for approval
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a travel nurse
- No alternate shifts or special scheduling requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
- Travel pairs may not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) are highly preferred; charge nurse references are not accepted
