Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down Unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and a NH or compact RN license.

Details

• Step-down unit in a hospital setting — note that this is a newly constructed unit expected to begin accepting patients in early 2026, requiring flexibility during the onboarding period
• Patient population includes respiratory failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, post-surgical care (neuro, cardiothoracic, and general), stable single organ trauma, and stroke
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Average daily census of 11 with 12 beds
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating expectations include a Helping Hands/Team Nursing approach with potential float to ICU and ED for helping hands and patient sitting — travelers will not be assigned patients outside their clinical scope
• EMR: Epic (experience required); medication management via Omnicell; SBAR communication framework
• Special procedures include arterial/central line management, telemetry monitoring, BiPAP/high flow oxygen, epicardial wire management, and chest tube management
• Special equipment includes patient lifts in every room, a noninvasive fluid management system, air taps for select patient criteria, and telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Valid NH state RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — AHA or Red Cross certifications only accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Step-down or ICU experience required (ICU-experienced RNs transitioning to step-down will be considered)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• This is a brand-new unit currently being built; travelers must be prepared to be flexible as the unit becomes fully operational
• 36-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable
• Candidates who have previously been employed at any facility within the SolutionHealth system are not eligible, regardless of length of separation or duration of employment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a local pay rate
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
