Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and Level I Trauma background.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Patient population includes geriatric trauma (55+), abuse/violence victims, MVA, falls, TBI, acute care surgical cases (appendicitis, hernia repairs, burns, fistulas, wounds), and post-ICU/OR/ED step-down patients
• Specialized procedures include blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV insertion, insulin and PCA management, peripheral nerve block catheters, surgical drain and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound vac care, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and isolation precautions
• Special equipment includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirement
• Short-term acute care hospital setting within a Magnet and teaching facility
• 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts may be considered

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required; must pass a Relias EKG exam
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with spinal cord injuries, TBI, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and chest tube management required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of the BJC health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Pre-orientation modules must be completed prior to start
