Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week LTAC Med/Surg travel assignment in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and experience with complex acute care patients including trach and drip management.
Details
- Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Med/Surg unit with 10 beds
- Common patient populations include respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin
- Respiratory therapy (RT) manages all respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow); RNs troubleshoot as needed
- Telemetry is monitored by a monitor tech stationed in the ICU; housewide tele packs are used
- A house supervisor is available 24/7
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required, with additional weekend shifts to fill scheduling needs
- Holiday rotation required
- On-call or standby is not currently required but is subject to change
- Qualified Med/Surg RNs may float to the ICU or Acute Rehab unit
- 13-week contract with 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license required; active at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- ACLS preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Proficiency with PEG tube care and feedings required
- Experience with CVC, PICC, and midline line usage and care required
- Experience caring for tracheostomy patients required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of classroom training per facility policy plus 2 preceptored shifts on the unit
- A negative drug screen is required; facility is a drug-free campus
- Scrubs of any color are required; only facility-approved t-shirts are permitted underneath
- Local candidates are welcome to apply; candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible for a local pay rate
- No BSN required for this position
