Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience and an active NV RN license.
Details
- Work in a 38-bed Telemetry unit (T7) within a large, fast-paced 800-bed inpatient hospital serving as the region's only Level II Trauma Center and a certified Stroke Center
- Patient population includes CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID, post-procedure patients (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab), and open heart surgery (OHS) patients downgraded from ICU
- Administers non-titratable cardiac medication drips including Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro
- Typical patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 based on acuity and workload
- Supported by RNs, CNAs, Critical Care Techs (CCTs), and Advanced Care Techs (ACTs); CCTs monitor ECG rhythms 24/7
- Ancillary support includes Rapid Response Team, phlebotomists, EKG technicians, and Respiratory Therapists
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Charting via Epic EMR; training provided during orientation or candidate may test out
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required to ICUs (for telemetry/medical-appropriate assignments), med-surg units, and an additional campus location
Requirements
- Active NV RN license required prior to start (RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may still apply but must apply immediately upon offer)
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (APEX)
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
- Must pass a telemetry competency exam including identification and measurement of rhythm strips
- Experience with open heart surgical patients preferred but not required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation throughout the episode of care
- Coordinates care across multidisciplinary teams and communicates with families and caregivers as part of the care process
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as determined by department scheduling needs
- Travelers are required to work a minimum of 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
- Travelers may be required to float to meet organizational needs up to their competency level
- Blocked scheduling is not permitted
- RTO requests must be disclosed prior to consideration; time off is not added to the end of the contract to compensate for RTO
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must complete a 13-week break after their last contract before returning, regardless of the number of extensions
