Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least two years of telemetry/PCU experience and prior completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment.
Responsibilities
- 12-hour day shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting in a hospital environment
- Telemetry and progressive care patient population in an 18+ bed unit
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Epic EMR experience is preferred
- Candidates must pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test administered during first-day orientation — one retest opportunity is allowed; a second failure will result in contract cancellation
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
- Coordinates care through collaboration with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team
- Administers medications and treatments per physician orders or standard protocols and documents per policy
- Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care
- Provides clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
- Former permanent staff of Presbyterian Health Services must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
Requirements
- Active RN license in New Mexico or a Compact State
- Minimum of two years of current experience in an 18+ bed telemetry/progressive care unit
- Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment prior to applying
- ADN or ASN degree required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications, completed through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification preferred
