Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent med/surg experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a 41-bed Med/Surg unit (5 West) within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes med/surg, oncology, neuro, and palliative care patients
- Patient ratio of 6:1
- Night shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every third weekend required
- Floating required as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Alaris IV pumps used on the unit
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active AL or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required (AHA accepted only; American Red Cross not accepted)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg experience required
- Proficient in patient assessment, IV insertion, Foley insertion, and NGT placement
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract
- Provides nursing care to a diverse patient population including oncology, neurological, and palliative care patients
- Med/surg background is the preferred skillset for this role
- Navy scrubs required; fleece is not permitted
- Candidates should demonstrate commitment, curiosity, strong communication, and connection with patients and team members
- The facility is a Joint Commission-accredited hospital recognized for stroke care, cardiovascular services, rehabilitation, bariatrics, and surgical care
