Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Room position at a critical access hospital in Iowa, requiring Iowa or compact RN licensure and TNCC certification.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Room (ER) department in a hospital setting
• Scheduled shifts are Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (nights)
• 13-week contract
• Responsible for total patient care using the nursing process, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient needs
• Directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards
• Required immunizations include: MMR (2 doses or positive titers), Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines), Polio, Hepatitis B series/titer or signed declination, TDaP (within 10 years), and Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• A negative 2-step Mantoux within 1 year of start date or QuantiFERON Gold is required; if positive, proof of positive result and chest X-ray must be provided
• A physical exam within 1 year of start date and a 10-panel drug screen within 1 month of start date are required
• Respiratory fit test within 1 year of start date is required (facility can provide if unavailable)
• Criminal background check covering all states where the candidate has held a professional license or lived/worked in the past 7 years is required
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certificates (Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse) are required prior to start; completion can be done through facility-provided CareLearning education modules
• Two recent employment references are required for consideration

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Emergency room experience preferred but not required
