Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown unit at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of experience.

• Acute care hospital setting in a Stepdown/PCU/IMC unit
• Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, renal, and post-surgical cases
• Schedule is 3x12 night shifts (1845–0715); 4x12 schedule may be accommodated
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted
• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required setting experience: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown unit
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team utilization
• Cardiovascular experience required: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, and TR Band
• IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
• Respiratory skills required: ventilated patient care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
• Neurological case experience required: CVA, craniotomy, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Orthopedic experience required: ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
• Additional skills required: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, skin grafts, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Level I Trauma experience preferred

• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• RTO is ideally no more than 5 days for the duration of the assignment; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• Block scheduling may be discussed with the manager
• Scrub color: any solid color

• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
