Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) night shift position in Birmingham, AL, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency in ventilator and pressor management.

Responsibilities

  • 12-bed Medical ICU (MICU) at an acute care hospital in Birmingham, AL
  • Patient population includes respiratory failure, diabetic emergencies, renal failure, and ventilator-dependent patients
  • Patient ratio is 2:1
  • Night shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Weekend requirement: at least every 3rd weekend, potentially more depending on staffing
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float requirement: all ICUs and ED for ICU holds
  • EMR: Epic
  • Provide critical care nursing to a complex medical ICU patient population
  • SSN and DOB are required for consideration
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Fingernail overlays of any kind, including gel polish, are not permitted
  • Certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of the start date

Requirements

  • Active AL RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA-issued only; American Red Cross certifications are not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
  • Proficiency in pressor management and ventilator management required
  • CRRT experience preferred
  • Medical ICU experience preferred
  • Sedation management experience preferred
