Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position at a top-ranked children's hospital in Indiana, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
- Work setting is a 23-bed Cardiac ICU (CVPICU) at a nationally ranked pediatric hospital (#5 in the nation, #1 in the Midwest per USNWR for the past 2 years)
- Patient population includes complex cardiac, VAD, and heart transplant patients
- Staffing ratio of 1:1–2
- Scheduled as 4x12-hour night shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to cardiac stepdown unit and PICU; may also float to an affiliate hospital nearby
- Telemetry monitoring and ventilator management are core components of this role
- Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
- PICU RNs will be considered; training on the CVPICU will be provided
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved during the contract
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- IN-licensed RNs are not permitted to work at IU Health facilities in ICU roles; only an IN or Compact license held by an out-of-state traveler satisfies the licensing requirement for this position
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of PICU RN experience required
- Telemetry and ventilator experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- Local candidates will not be considered for this position
