Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical unit, requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic proficiency, working night shifts with remote telemetry on an adult-to-geriatric patient population.

Details

• Hospital Medical/Surgical unit setting
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with diagnoses including diabetes, post-op, wound vacs, and bariatrics
• Remote telemetry monitoring included in scope of care
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 28
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• 12-week contract

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Epic proficiency required
• Must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO maximum of 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off for approval
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
• No alternate shift or schedule change requests are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
• Travel pairs may not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are strongly preferred for consideration
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to begin on time; delays may result in a two-week pushback due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule
