Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic EMR experience and neurology/stroke care proficiency.

Details

• MS/Tele unit at a 641-bed regional academic teaching medical center and Level I Adult / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in Columbia, SC
• Patient population includes adults with embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures (epileptic and non-epileptic), and neurosurgical cases including shunt revisions, tumor removals, and craniotomies/cranioplasties
• Stroke care follows AHA guidelines under a Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
• Heparin is the sole IV drip used on the unit
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to areas where documented competencies exist
• Charting via Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active SC or compact multi-state RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent MS/Tele or relevant unit experience
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in IV starts, port access, PICC and central line management, peripheral IV care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory skills required: HFNC, nasal cannula, and trach management
• Telemetry monitoring (remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response Team experience
• Neuro experience required: CVA, spinal cord injury, TBI, and pre/post neurosurgical care
• Additional clinical skills: feeding tube care, PCA and heparin protocols, continuous bladder irrigation, isolation precautions, and surgical drain management
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
