Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, with proficiency in a broad range of cardiac and interventional procedures including PCI, IABP, and Impella insertion.
Details
- Cath Lab unit within a hospital setting
- Procedures performed include diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, cardiac stent placement, left and right heart catheterizations, PCIs, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, rotablator atherectomy, and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Preferred procedural experience includes TAVR, Watchman procedure, ASD closures, valvuloplasty, carotid stenting, endovascular interventions, stent graft placement, and various vascular scrub procedures
- Medication administration includes antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, procedural sedation, and reversal agents
- Primary systems in use: Pyxis (medication), MAC LAB, CUPID, Epic (documentation), and SBAR (communication)
- Schedule is 4x10-hour shifts (7:30–18:00), with occasional early shifts starting at 6:30 and one designated late shift per week to complete the last case of the day
- On-call required approximately 1 night per week
- Weekend coverage required 1 weekend every other month
- Floating required on an as-needed basis
- Self-scheduling unit
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required
- Proficiency in scrub and circulate procedures in a cardiac cath lab setting
- Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Experience with sheath removal/monitoring and topical hemostasis techniques (e.g., D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)
- Experience with ACT monitoring, cardioversion, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
- Competency with IV infusion pumps, IV placement, and IV vasopressor administration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- State Board of Nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience — all experience levels are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- Unit orientation is 24 hours
- Scrubs are provided
- An interview with the manager is required prior to any offer being extended — candidates should be prepared to provide availability within 72 hours of submission
- 13-week contract minimum; candidates interested in a longer assignment are encouraged to indicate their preference
