Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at an oncology-focused hospital unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializing in solid tumor oncology care across all stages of the cancer journey, from new diagnosis through end-of-life transition
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses spanning breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–7:30); rotating schedule based on department priorities and assessed every 4-week scheduling period
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
• Charting via Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Unit maintains a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Orientation begins with the first week on day shift (Mon–Fri), followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Candidates may self-schedule shift requests prior to final schedule balancing and posting
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
• No 30-day break is required between assignments when changing representation at this facility
