Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pre-Op/Phase II Recovery position requiring Epic proficiency and at least 1 year of Pre-Op/PACU experience, with no first-time travelers considered.
Details
- Inpatient and outpatient Pre-Op setting with Phase II Recovery through patient discharge
- Surgical cases include general surgery (lap chole, appendectomy, bowel resection, BKA/AKA), vascular, plastics, mandibular, ophthalmology, gynecology, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), podiatry, and orthopedics
- Occasional Pre-Op coverage for cath lab (vascular procedures only) and endoscopy
- Approximately 3–4% of the patient population is pediatric; travelers are only assigned to pediatric patients if they have pediatric experience
- Specialized equipment includes CPAP/BiPap and breathing treatment administration
- Cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia recognition required
- Epic EMR required
- Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (11:30–22:00)
- Floating between all facilities within the state is required
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Pre-Op/Phase II Recovery experience required
- Required surgical case experience: ENT, general, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ortho/spine, ortho/total joints, and urology
- Preferred surgical case experience: cardiac, plastics, podiatry, robotics, thoracic, and transplant
- Required skills: Pre-op assessment, pre-op education, pre-op medications, pre/post-operative procedures, discharge instructions, and pain assessment and management
- Required medication experience: narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Travelers must be willing to float between all facilities within Washington State; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- Former permanent staff of any Swedish facility must have been separated for at least 3 months and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; former permanent staff of other Providence (non-Swedish) facilities are eligible after a 3-month separation
- Minimal RTO is expected for this position; limited time-off requests may be considered but excessive RTO is discouraged
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of consideration; requests made after offer may be denied
