Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Emergency Department within a 280-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
• Combined adult and pediatric ED with an average daily census of 120 patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4 for all shifts
• Night shift schedule: 4x12 or 3x12 hours (1900–0730)
• Weekends required as needed
• Floating within scope required as needed to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)
• Local candidates accepted with no radius requirement

Requirements

• Active IL RN license (or ETA) required
• Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Experience in a general Emergency Department (combined adult/pedi) at a Level II Trauma Center required
• Cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills: starting IVs, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy
• Medication experience: emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, continuous IV paralytics, procedural sedation administration
• Neurological case experience: CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
• Orthopedic case experience: ortho-trauma
• Pediatric case experience: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, abuse identification/reporting, infections, mental/behavioral health, near drowning, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, spinal cord injury, UTIs
• Psychiatric case experience: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric holds, suicidal patients
• Respiratory case experience: chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, ventilated patients
• Shock/trauma experience: gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation
• Additional skills: triage, isolation precautions, telemetry interpretation, ventilator management
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Level II Trauma Center within a 280-bed acute care hospital
• Cerner experience preferred; previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Royal blue scrubs required
