Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Acute Telemetry night shift position in Alexandria, LA, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry or related nursing experience and current AHA certifications.

Details

• Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and med/surg overflow
• Cardiac drip management is performed on the unit (nitrates are not initiated but drips are managed)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5:1, occasionally 6:1
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units required when needed
• 13-week contract with potential for temp-to-perm conversion

Requirements

• Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• Current ACLS certification from AHA required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry or a related nursing specialty
• SSN required for consideration
• 2 professional references required for consideration
• Copies of all active certifications required for consideration
• Primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates

Additional Information

• Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed at the bedside
• BSN preferred but not required
