Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele position within a secure corrections-based oncology unit, requiring Epic proficiency and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based corrections unit serving Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates — a locked unit with access controlled by Corrections Officers (COs)
• MS/Tele unit with patient populations including active oncology diagnoses and treatments (solid tumors, hematology), oncology workup admissions, and non-oncology diagnoses such as COPD, sepsis, and pneumonia
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for MS
• CO-to-inmate ratio of 1:2
• Shifts rotate between MS and PCU assignments
• Night shifts (7p–7:30a, 3x12-hour shifts); scheduling may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Weekend shifts vary based on unit requirements
• Float to various Oncology MS units as needed
• Epic used for documentation (experience required); Pyxis used for medication management
• Oncology experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and unit-based telemetry
• Skills required include: blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, IV insertion, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), PCA management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management, external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

• This unit operates within a secure corrections environment; staff safety protocols are in place and COs are present on the unit at all times
• Support services available include interpretation services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, and transportation
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• No mandatory break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs, who require a 30-day break)
