Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (Stepdown) position requiring telemetry proficiency and comfort with a wide range of acute medical conditions on a rotating night shift schedule.

Details

• Inpatient acute care setting in an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit
• 32-bed unit with all private rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 3–4 patients per nurse
• Patient population includes those with COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal conditions, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, and neuro/surgical/cardiac cases
• Procedures and equipment include BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomies, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab patients, and dialysis
• Charting via Epic EMR; Pyxis medication dispensing system
• 12-hour night shifts on a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to ICU (with extensive ICU experience) or General Med floors; ICU ratio is 2 patients, Gen Med ratio is 5–6 patients

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
• Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required
• Ability to read telemetry required
• Comfort and experience with chest tubes required
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of one day with the education team and one day of floor orientation (approximately 12 hours total)
• Travelers are placed into the standard holiday and weekend rotation
• Scrubs required; any color is acceptable
• Local candidates are welcome to apply; candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible for local pay rates
• COVID vaccination is not required for this position
