Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring TNCC and a minimum of 2 years of ER experience, with night shift availability and weekend rotation.

Details

  • Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center with a dedicated Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department
  • Typical patient ratios are 1:5-6, with the potential to reach 1:8 during high-volume periods and holidays
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Weekend rotation required: 3 weekends (Fri–Sun) per 4-week schedule, with 1–3 days worked per weekend
  • Floating is required, with potential float to the Pediatric ED
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Epic EMR (Epic experience preferred; training provided during orientation)

Requirements

  • Active Michigan RN license required (compact licenses not accepted in MI)
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA preferred), PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • ENPC certification preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • All certifications must be active and cannot be pending at contract start
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
  • Former core staff must wait 12 months before returning; eligibility should be verified prior to applying
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application — no additional RTO will be approved after submission
  • RTO is not available from 3/27–4/12 or 5/22–5/25
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO per assignment
  • Pre-start online modules are required and completed before the first day
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as traveling candidates
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration is preferred
  • Triage experience is preferred
