Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Progressive Care position requiring a KS or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details

• This is a float pool position — no home unit is assigned; clinician will float between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• Patient population includes cardiac, neuro stepdown, sepsis, renal failure, stroke, AFIB, GIB, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID cases
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, and emergency response
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Equipment used includes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active RN license in Kansas (KS) or a compact RN license currently in hand — both Kansas and Missouri licensure (or compact equivalent) required due to floating between facilities
• Current certifications required: BLS and NIHSS
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year
• Pending licenses are not accepted — all licensure must be in hand at time of consideration

• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Pre-employment compliance modules are required and average 10–15 hours total, completed prior to the start date
• Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned by the unit
• Candidates must be willing to float between departments, units, and campuses — unwillingness to float may result in cancellation
