Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Infusion RN for an outpatient cancer care clinic in Chicago, IL, requiring ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification and at least 1 year of outpatient infusion/oncology experience.

Details

• Outpatient oncology infusion clinic located within a hospital campus in Chicago, IL
• Adult oncology patient population; no pediatric patients
• Common treatments include chemotherapy administration, long-term IV antibiotics (IVABX), injections, and blood and platelet infusions
• Approximately 10 patients per day through the department; no chemo patients after 1400
• Unit consists of 5 infusion chairs
• Monday through Friday schedule, 8-hour day shifts (0800–1630); clinic closes at 1530 but RNs may stay later to complete infusions
• No weekend rotation, no on-call or callback requirements
• Facility is closed on major holidays
• No floating required
• EMR: Epic (preferred but not required); IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification required
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient infusion/oncology experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in chemo administration, peripheral IV insertion, Port-a-Cath access, and PICC line access
• Ability to draw blood from ports for lab collection
• Strong assessment skills with comfort recognizing and responding to adverse reactions
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Clinic support includes a shared clinic lead (between two hospital sites), patient schedulers, and 1 additional infusion RN on shift
• An oncologist is on site at the hospital and available to respond as needed; rapid response and hospitalist/ED coverage also available
• Orientation consists of a general hospital orientation plus one unit orientation shift to learn clinic workflow
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved during the contract
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available on site
• First-time travelers will be considered, though preference is given to candidates with prior travel experience
