Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III trauma acute care hospital, requiring at least 3 years of L&D experience including C-section experience and strong high-risk OB assessment skills.

Details

• 13-week travel contract in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit
• Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds, averaging 1–3 births per day (~830/year)
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
• One on-call shift per 4-week schedule required
• May float to the ED or Med/Surg unit if experienced
• Nurses must be capable of functioning in both L&D and couplet care settings
• Charting performed in Allscripts EMR
• OB/Neonatologist is not in-house; 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy available on-site
• Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Secretary, and OB Scrub Tech

Requirements

• Active AZ RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• C-section experience required
• High-risk OB experience required, including management of pre-eclampsia and OB emergencies
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and appropriate clinical response to fetal distress required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (or Advanced) Fetal Monitoring
• NIHSS certification also required
• BSN is not required

Additional Information

• Nurses must be highly proficient in independent assessment and capable of managing OB emergencies prior to provider arrival, as OB/Neonatology is not in-house
• Couplet care responsibilities may be assigned when census is low
• Orientation is 8 hours and takes place every Monday
• Extensions are frequently approved at this facility
