Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, AWHONN Advanced certification, and availability for call shifts and frequent weekend coverage.
Details
- 24-bed Labor & Delivery unit with a census of 150–180 births per month
- Patient population includes neonates, adolescents, and adults
- Staffing ratio of 1:2
- Shift options are 3x12-hour days (7:00–19:30) or nights (19:00–7:30) on a variable schedule, rotating in 3–6 week blocks rather than week-to-week
- Schedule is built and posted 6 weeks at a time
- Floating required to Post Partum and Nursery
- On-call required at a rate of 1 shift per 2 weeks; call shifts are posted on a volunteer sign-up list and included in the schedule at start
- 5–6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period (nights require 7–9 weekend shifts per 6-week period)
- EMR: Epic; additional unit systems include Omnicell and SBAR communication framework
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required; 3 years preferred
- Candidates with 2–2.5 years of experience may be considered if they have extensive prior travel nursing experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in Labor & Delivery and antepartum care, including triage, circulation, recovery, and post-partum care
- Proficiency required in: newborn care, magnesium and Pitocin administration, sterile vaginal exams (SVE), heel stick, hyperbilirubinemia management, transcutaneous and total serum bilirubin (TCB/TSB), blood transfusions, circumcision care/assist, discharge instructions, and car seat education
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided all experience requirements are met
- All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
