Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry and drip titration skills, working 12-hour night shifts at a Level II trauma facility in Nebraska.
Details
- Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a Level II trauma hospital setting
- 35-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5 RN-to-patient; nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
- EMR system: Epic (experience required)
- 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)
- Every other weekend required
- Every third holiday required
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration, used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
Additional Information
- Provide progressive care nursing to a diverse adult and geriatric population with cardiac, neurological, and metabolic conditions
- A charge nurse is present on each shift
- Orientation consists of facility onboarding during the first week followed by 1–2 days of unit-specific floor orientation
- RNs must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% on the Friday of orientation week; failure to pass results in contract termination
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront and are limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
- This is a fast-paced unit; successful candidates demonstrate a positive attitude, strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit facilities may still be considered
