Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring multiple active certifications and experience managing titratable drips.

Details

• Acute care setting within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) on a Med/Surg Telemetry stepdown unit
• 11-bed Med/Surg unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 6:1, dependent on acuity
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Diltiazem
• Remote cardiac monitoring is in place; familiarity with telemetry strip interpretation is helpful, though not required
• No Respiratory Therapists on staff — RNs manage CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators, and nebulizer treatments
• Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour night shifts, 1845–0715
• Every third weekend required
• Every third holiday required, including Christmas Eve in the rotation
• Low-census call may be required
• Floating to the ER and Med/Surg may be required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, PALS (AHA), and TNCC — all must be active
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years in the same specialty

Additional Information

• Charge nurses are working RNs and also serve as house supervisors
• CNAs are assigned based on patient census and acuity; extra staff may be called in for high-acuity situations
• No scrub color requirements; scrubs are not provided
• Orientation length varies based on individual skill level
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
