Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for a Level I Trauma acute care hospital setting, utilizing Epic EMR.

Details

• Inpatient acute care and rehab unit in a Level I Trauma hospital
• Average caseload of 4-5 patients per day on a 21-bed unit
• Patient population includes all ages with orthopedic, neurological, and general medical diagnoses, including medically complex and unstable patients
• Primary shift is Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with 1–2 weekends per month required (no on-call required)
• 8-hour shifts on a 13-week contract
• Epic EMR used for charting and documentation
• Access to specialized equipment including UE Bioness and Dynavision

Requirements

• Current, active OT license (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Acute care experience required
• Two professional references required — one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
• Skills checklist required for consideration
• All certifications must be active at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include evaluations, treatment interventions, team conferences, modalities, FIM scoring, and documentation
• Must be able to manage a high-volume, fast-paced caseload with frequent rescheduling and prioritization across multiple areas of the hospital
• Knowledge of normal/abnormal vital signs, contraindications, and medical equipment monitoring is essential in this environment
• Expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team for discharge planning, patient safety, and hand-off communication
• May be asked to supervise OTAs, aides, and students as part of regular duties
• Orientation includes 1–2 days of computer documentation training and department-specific training over several days
• Dress code is business casual or polo (ceil blue, khaki, gray, or chocolate brown) — no jeans
