Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/IMC Telemetry position at an acute care facility in Weston, WI, requiring drip titration experience and ACLS/BLS certifications.

Details

• Acute care PCU/IMC (Progressive Care Unit/Intermediate Care Unit) setting with 30 beds
• Patient population includes cardiac, NSTEMI, post cath lab, AFib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or additional CNA support
• RNs are required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• Telemetry technicians are present on the unit and read strips; GE monitors are used
• Respiratory therapy equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
• CNAs on unit at a ratio of approximately 1:10–12 depending on census
• Charge RNs take up to 2 patients
• 12-hour shifts, variable days and nights (7a–7p / 7p–7a); no self-scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• On-call/standby requirement in place
• Floating required to MS or IMC overflow in ICU
• EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 13-week contract with 36 hours per week

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)
• Current ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and EKG Course certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience managing IV drips including nitro, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone
• Drip titration experience required
• 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the same specialty within the last 3 years
• Post cath lab experience is beneficial but not required
• Arterial line experience is appreciated but not required

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation is up to 3 days
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating every-other-holiday basis
