Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (ACU) night shift position in a rural, culturally rich Native American community in Northwestern Arizona, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.

- Acute care/step-down unit (ACU) in a JCAHO-accredited regional hospital serving the Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute communities across a 4,400 square mile area
- 73-bed hospital that serves as a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations, offering a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services
- Night shift schedule: 1830–0700, three shifts per week
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in an acute or sub-acute facility
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may be completed within 6 months of hire)
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification required (may be completed within 6 months of hire)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (exemptions may be considered with a declination form)
Additional Information
- Performs a variety of nursing care procedures requiring professional knowledge, independent judgment, and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments across all age groups
- Facility is located in a very rural area of Northwestern Arizona on the Colorado Plateau — candidates should be prepared for a remote assignment
- On-site housing may be available at $600/month, based on availability — no family members or pets are permitted in housing units
- Housing application must be submitted two weeks prior to start date
- Fingerprinting is required prior to start and is completed during the compliance process via mail
- Orientation is held every two weeks
- Flu vaccination status may be subject to facility requirements; exemptions may be considered with a declination form
